This delightful Columbus Recreation and Parks series offers water play and fountain fun at the interactive Scioto Mile Fountain from 11:30AM-1:30PM. An array of themed activities, games, arts and crafts await – get ready to dive deep under the seal, sail with some seafaring pirates, jump overboard into an underwater story and more! Don’t forget, the Sunny 95/Meijer Treat Truck will be there every week to cool you off with some frozen treats!

Seeing Boston heroes throw first pitch at Fenway will make your day

Only six weeks after cowboy-hat-wearing Carlos Arredondo helped rush Jeff Bauman away from the Boston Marathon after the blast that claimed both of Bauman’s legs, the two heroes from the iconic photo recording that moment threw out simultaneous first pitches at Fenway Park Tuesday night before the Boston Red Sox faced the Philadelphia Phillies. Arredondo and Bauman, who helped ID the bombing suspects, have become close friends since the horrifying events of April 15. But it was Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia who ran in to give Bauman a hug after he scooped up the ceremonial pitch — which was a strike, according to Bauman.

Bexley: 11 a.m., service at Drexel Circle, organized by the City of Bexley and the American Legion.

Dublin: 11 a.m., procession from Bridge Pointe Center to Dublin Cemetery, with wreath ceremony on Bridge Street Bridge; 11:30 a.m., dedication of the KIA memorial; noon, ceremony, Grounds of Remembrance, with complimentary picnic lunch on the grounds of Dublin Library to follow.

Gahanna: 1 p.m., brick-placing ceremony, Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Grove City: 11 a.m., parade from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3710 Broadway, to City Hall. Following short ceremony, continuing to Grove City Cemetery, and a memorial service.

Westerville: Field of Heroes program, across from the Westerville Community Center, Cleveland Avenue. Saturday, 9:30 a.m., opening ceremony; noon, reading of names; 7 p.m., concert from 122nd Army Band. Sunday, 8 a.m., Field of Heroes 5K run/walk; noon, reading of hero names; 7:30 p.m., flag retirement ceremony. May 27, Noon, closing ceremony.

Worthington: 10 a.m., parade sponsored by American Legion in Worthington, Begins on E. Dublin-Granville Rd. to Cemetery Drive. For questions call: 614-885-4463.
